Are humans shaping the evolution of AI, or is AI shaping the evolution of humans?

Book review: 'Life 3.0' by Max Tegmark

In my latest book review, I’m exploring ‘Life 3.0: Being Human in the Age of AI’ by Max Tegmark. This is a book that doesn’t just explain AI, but also challenges us to engage in a conversation about its impact on society.

Tegmark describes AI as ‘the most important conversation of our time’ – a phrase that has become a mantra in my courses on the subject. He argues that while AI is evolving at an incredible pace, most of us are passive consumers rather than active participants in shaping its future. The problem with this is that it is already leading to serious ethical and governance problems.
