This course gives non-finance managers a clear, practical understanding of key financial concepts and statements, enabling them to interpret numbers confidently and make informed business decisions.

  • Demystify a broad range of business finance terminology.
  • Understand the components of a Balance Sheet (Statement of Financial Position), Income Statement (Profit & Loss Report) and Cash Flow Statement.
  • Calculate financial adjustments including accruals, prepayments & depreciation.
  • Use ratio analysis to measure and understand profitability, liquidity and efficiency.

Budgeting and investment decisions for non-finance managers

1 day

On this course, delegates will learn how to set and manage budgets effectively, understand cost behaviour and explore investment appraisal techniques to support sound financial planning and strategic business decisions.

  • Explore the value that budgeting brings to a business.
  • Consider different approaches to setting budgets.
  • Understand how the components of a budget are put together and managed, including cost behaviour, limiting factors and cash budgeting.
  • Apply investment appraisal tools such as Payback, Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return and to projects and understand their implications.
